AliExpress Return Policy and Buyer Protection

Returns on AliExpress depend on the individual seller's policy, but AliExpress Buyer Protection provides a fallback. Here is how it works and what you can claim.

How Returns Work on AliExpress

AliExpress is a marketplace, so return policies are set by individual sellers rather than a single platform policy. Each seller's return terms appear on their product listings. Some sellers offer free returns; others do not accept returns at all for certain item types.

What AliExpress Buyer Protection Covers

Regardless of individual seller policies, AliExpress Buyer Protection applies to all purchases and covers:

  • Item not received within the guaranteed delivery date
  • Item significantly not as described in the listing
  • Item damaged in transit
  • Missing items from a multi-item order

To claim buyer protection, open a dispute through your order page once the situation meets one of the above criteria.

Starting a Return

  1. Check the seller's return policy on the product listing first
  2. Message the seller with your return request and reason
  3. If the seller agrees, they will provide return instructions
  4. If the seller refuses or does not respond within 3-5 days, open a dispute through your order

FAQ

This depends on the seller's policy and the reason for return. For seller errors (wrong item, damaged, not as described), sellers typically cover return shipping when processed through a dispute. For buyer remorse returns, the buyer usually covers shipping costs.
