Temu is more generous on the partial-refund-without-return approach for low-value items. For most shoppers with a standard issue, either platform's support is navigable if you know which channel to use.

Refund Experience Compared

Shein has a clear advantage here: the Shein Wallet refund option processes in 1-3 business days, which is significantly faster than Temu's standard 5-10 business day timeline for card refunds. If you are okay with store credit, Shein's refund process is genuinely fast.

Temu's edge: they are more likely to offer a partial refund without requiring you to return the item. We have seen this work consistently for items under $15 with quality issues. Shein will sometimes do this too, but Temu's support agents seem more readily authorized to offer it.

Return Process Compared

Both platforms offer free first returns. Shein's return window is typically 30 days; Temu's is often 90 days, which is a significant difference if you are on the fence about keeping something. Both require unused items with original tags.
